Are people who receive Holy Communion on their knees just pious, self-righteous, show-offs?  That's certainly how some like to portray them, but the Pope has a different thought.

  • Dear Michael Voris, I am the only person in my immediate family who goes to Mass regularly (usually NO). But when my father and mother go to Mass for graduations, weddings, funerals, et cetera they tell me not to receive Holy Communion kneeling because they think it's weird and they said it would "embarrass" them. So I comply with their wishes but still feel uncomfortable doing so. As far as I know, they themselves should not even be receiving Communion. What should I do?

  • @john6380 Start by telling them what you just posted. Also, ask why they are embarassed by you kneeling before God; that may allow you to have a good conversation with them about what they are (or are not) doing and what you are doing.

  • I told some people at my parish that we should Kneel and receive communion in the tounge to show our highest reverance to our Lord. The old ladies who think they own the church ran and told the Parish Pastor who then spoke to me on the side. He told me that I should I did wrong and that in the USA we do not have an OPTION, he told me that he would not stop me from kneeling but I should Go to the end of the line. What should I do? He is our Pastor and I do not want to go against his authority.

  • @th3d3r139 You should start by - politely - telling him he is wrong, showing him the documents which show he is wrong, and then asking him to show you his documents which say you do not have the option. If he will not give you your rights, go to the bishop. If he will not help you, write to Rome. And go to another parish where you can receive your rights.

  • I was told a long time ago by my mother that "idle" talk about a priest is wrong so I'm going to try to be reverent. A local priest was asked about kneeling for communion, he said: "that would just be drawing attention to yourself". My question would be..."how about giving the reverence to The Body of Christ?" How should I approach this issue with the priests of my area? The only way I really get to "talk" to the priest is in the confessional, they ignore everyone the rest of the time After Mass

  • @bheadh You could try writing to the priests - that way, you can get all your points neatly written down and made clear without missing anything, and the priest could read it when he had time.

  • new viewer to these videos. Am highly impressed. Hope a discussion can explore the laity's hand gestures during Mass, in particular many using the oran gesture and holding hands during the Our Father.
