easy clawhammer - old timey - frailing basic banjo lesson - sourwood mountain

this is a bare-bones lesson (without too much chatter) that will get you started on the clawhammer (or frailing) banjo.

the song played is called sourwood mountain

it is in OPEN G TUNING (i forgot to mention that)

IT IS PLAYED ENTIRELY WITH A DOWN STROKE PICKING PATTERN - THERE IS NO "UP PICKING" INVOLVED (please keep that in mind as you learn)

i have been playing banjo for 16 years. i live in los angeles. i am a stand up comedian, too.
