This is a perfect example of an increasingly common truck that exists in San Francisco--it is a beautiful 2009 Labrie split body MSL on Autocar WXLL, collecting trash and recycling on a commercial route. In my opinion this was one of the best products Labrie has made, really like the whole design of their newest Expert 2000 MSL body, not to mention the tipper. It's made by Industrial Lifters, which is owned by Labrie itself.

Enjoy the footage, please rate and comment to make my efforts worthwhile!!

  • I guess the split MSLs would be the signature truck of SF eh? They are pretty cool to watch when they can empty 2 bins of any waste stream at the same time. Very nice design by Labrie, very effective system. I don't really remember, but did the Lodals operate in the same way with the adjustable dividers? Nice array of media at 5:30! Funny seeing a cart hanging off the front at 7:14, too bad if it falls off... CRUNCH! Awesome footage and mad shot of the hopper!

  • @MitchellM15 Yes they run everywhere in Frisco!! Pretty much unique to the city and its circumstances...because most places having split body trucks is basically pointless (doesn't save fuel, just requires more trucks), but here with all the hills and stuff it's just better for one truck to take the pain ONE time per week and get both garbage and recycling in a pass. Organics obviously is separate truck.

Yes they are still buying some Lodals, and they do operate very similarly. Thanks :D

  • @Trashman242 Yeh the hills are definitely a tick for these split trucks... lots of places I can think of where they'd be suitable. I feel sorry for the trucks when they get forced up a hill, not like anyone asks if they want to make the climb or anything :P Oh so they're still buying Lodals! Good to hear, because I thought they ditched them for the Labries and Heils.

  • @MitchellM15 Well lately they've pretty much ditched buying Labries (like this one) which is a shame, but yeah still getting Lodals here and there. and DAMN do those new Lodals look nice.........all decked out with hoses and everything all over the place, super clean and everything.

  • So, THIS would be why almost ALL labries have these tippers. I like them a lot! I have only seen 2 in my life, and they were comb lifters.

  • @DontKillTheTrashman Look at the tailgate @5:53...that definitely looks 50/50 to me. I've driven plenty of 60/40s and this doesn't look like one. You would have to agree that it would be pretty tough to service this area with an automated truck though.

  • Come down and gimme a visit next time you're in SF

  • @mcbombtings It's a 60/40 split. They loaned some of them to our division on the Peninsula. They're great trucks, but they're not automated.

  • @RecologySMCKid haha you're right, thanks lol :D Answers both our questions

  • @Trashman242 I just saw where you heard the answer on flickr: /photos/recologygoldengate/4779410752/in/photostream

    I hope they still make them,they're cool trucks,but i don't know.
