4-H Horse Roping/Working Ranch Goat Tying: Senior Girls Example

The event starts with a goat tied to a 10 foot rope at one end of the arena and a mounted rider at the other end. The rider rides toward the goat and dismounts. The ride must tie three of the goat's legs together. The event is timed. If the goat becomes untied before five seconds passes, the rider receives no score.

When would you use this on a working farm? If the goat is already contained do you need to tie their legs to work with them?
