Sabots are a one sail dinghy designed as a begginer class. It can take two children under the age of twelve or one child between twelve to sixteen years old. They are sailed at over thirty clubs across the east coast of Australia for the past fifty years.

They are a great boat to Learn to Sail in, due to there simplicity and strong assocation classes. Furthermore when the sailor devlops there is competion at regattas which provides pathways for lifelong friendships.

  • Hi I am trying to put together a not for profit promotional dvd to help attract new members to our sailing club. Would like to use some of your footage could you please email me

  • @wowthatsailor, these are the Australian Sabot. There is a difference, but these are sabots.

  • Those technically are not sabots. Sabots were invented in Naples Bay in Long Beach CA. And they do NOT have daggers. Southern California Sabots have leeboards. I have seen two of the "sabots" with dagger boards, but they are not allowed in raced because they are much faster. Also the sabot symbol is a red Dutch sabot, with an "N" inside of it which stands for "Naples" or Naples Bay in Long Beach CA.

  • nice video..i learnt to sail in a sabot when i was 8yrs old.

Now i'm 37, have a cruising yacht with many ocean miles under the keel.
