This is a 36 by 12 foot Mural I painted for Forest Brook Community church on Barn board. I painted it with gasoline and lit it with a blow torch. I also added crushed powdered pigments, powered charcoal and latex paint. The painting tells a story of the the birth life and death of Jesus. On the left hand side is bethlahem. The centre panels are present day Jerusalem. The Right side is is Calvary. The mural is broken up into pieces which exemplify the state of the world Our brokenness as humanity. It also parallels the state of the the middle east and all of the fractions which occur there on a daily basis. The barn boards that are used are simple clean and make reference to Jesus's birth in a stable. The colours I used are simple earth tones. The contrast helps to create a mood where you can contemplate the Christmas story and wonder why it all happened. I hope you like it. Special thanks to Grayden Boyes for the wood and Jim Chen for filming this.
