@MrDynamic0: add a property to the play called "key" or "bluekey" or what every you want. Make it an integer and give it a value of "0". Add a key object and have the "key" property change to "1" when the player picks the key up. Have the door open only if the "key" property is "1"

for anyone using 2.5 or higher, when he says to use the IPO or whatever it is for the animation the 2.5 button is "action"

@8justin88: 2.6 is it called "action", but in most of the 2.5 releases I believe it was called "F-Curve"

@metalx1000 ah. i never really got that far into logic when 2.5 was coming though, but since 2.6 is out i've started messing with blender more. thanks for this tut. btw. i have a nice door animation. if i use an array to copy a room(im making a school and im going to use the same classroom just with different stuff inside) will the logic stay with the arrayed doors as well?

@8justin88: Off the top of my head, I think you are better off cloning objects for game use. If you use an array I think you need to apply it and make the array objects real objects.
I'm going to have a bunch of Blender 2.6 Game Videos soon if all goes well. Keep watching!
