@MLSGNALZ Garry is using it as an excuse to try to live with his dad. The fact that it's only four people makes this scene even more touching to me. It's a lame excuse by adult standards, but it's exactly the kind of thing a kid would say. This movie has a brilliant screenplay.

As the daughter of a dad who remarried and abandoned us,this tears me apart.Joaquin so captured the agony of kids from first marriages who get shafted by their deadbeat dads.The dads who leave behind a shattered kid and thinks because he loves his NEW family,that makes up for their past mistakes.And the mom's heartbreak is so like my mum.Brilliant.
