I'm covering all of the tracks to AICs all time favorite - Man in the Box.

After years of not having a drum set I picked up these Roland V-Drums in March. I have a lot of other Roland products and all are top-notch. I think I like playing quality acoustic drums better, but since I only have a small room for my gear and studio, and wanted an easy to record solution, I went with the TD-9SX.

After watching a number of videos on YouTube I decided I would make a video of me recording one of the easier an cooler covers just to get things started. I had some issues with my old computer editing AVCHD so all of these clips were reduced to LoFi prior to editing and dropping in the music master tracks. On this song I'm playing all of the tracks, and obviously I'm not trying to copy the solo or really any of the parts too closely. I hope to get some friends over soon who are more talented to cover some other songs or do some of the better originals we have performed together. I'm very humble about my musical ability and I'm not posting because I think I'm great. A bunch of people I know wanted to see it and that is what YouTube is for. It was totally fun making this and I learned a lot so I'm looking forward to redoing this cover and doing some more covers and originals too. I know there are some bad cuts here. Negative feelings about this video should be channeled into a video response whereas you are performing all of the various parts yourself. Enjoy.

  • Yeah, that’s funny. Watch it closer. I almost smashed my face into the wall! Practice up. You can do it! Thanks for the feedback!

  • how much autotune did you use for this might I ask?

  • @LiquidVoodooMaster Too much. The vocals were supposed to be just scratch tracks. But I heard 'em so many times trying to get the drums acceptable that in the end I didn't even notice it. That is, until it was too late...

  • 2:37 auto tuning fail

  • dude this is like the best cover :) love it

  • During the guitar solo I was watching you play it, but then my eyes wandered to your vocalist part and I saw you just jumping around and it make me chuckle hahahahahaha. That was awesome, man, you make me wanna get better at drums so I can do something like this.

  • Don't listen to the haters man, they are usually the dreggs of society anyway and suffer from S.W.D "SIMON" wannabe disease. We bought a TC Helicon VL2 to use in our show and some of the vocal tracks that we have produced using the damn thing are some of our biggest sellers. It doesn't make sense to use fx for every instrument in the band except for singers. It will not make someone a great singer it will only enhance a good voice. Makes a bad singer sound worse.

  • @zeppelin88ab A guitar has fx. I never understood a mentality like yours, it's senseless in my opinion. I have a TC Helicon VL2 and it has added a huge dimension to our shows. So I have to totally disagree with you on that. Vocals are not always better raw as a matter of fact the best way to add a huge dynamic to voice and has been used long before autotune was invented, was to add reverb and delay (2 most popular fx) to the singers mic. They called it "greasing the mic".

  • KING!!!

  • This is really...actually...really good...

  • It's fucking great...

  • nice!!
