@JamesMLeo no you're wrong. and yes you're right.

moving hand side to side (think math) does not give no vibrato in any instrument. but even if you wanna do it side to side you shake it up and down a little bit, unintentionally. in frettless instruments there are no frets to damp this oscillation so you get it glossier, instruments with frets damp it so you feel it less.

oscillation is generally unwanted in physics but not in music... ;)

moving your fingers side to side to create a vibrato only works on fretless instruments. to get the effect on a uke you would pull the string up and down like bending a note on an electric guitar. just saying.

beautiful song and beautiful playing! you are really good at getting a clean note out even when your pinky is stretched so far (something I have been working on for a long time!)
