Kreese strikes me as an egomaniac, rather than the art of karate, his dojo is a shrine to the great John Kreese, who I reckon is a fraud and a control freak. I studied karate in England and attended a dojo while not as extreme as this was basically built around the cult of the owner, who had his own organisation so no one could question him and upped his dan grade every few years. I left as what we were being taught was a very weak style and the sensei was only interested in money.

Some self-defense instructors can really be such douchebags. Actually, Sensei Kreese would be a boyscout compared to those guys. Not only do they teach you to knock the fuck out of somebody before they get the chance to do it to you, they also insult your mother if you do not do the drills right. lol

But.... A good defense instructor will teach you how to avoid confrontations, and to use less harmful (physically or legally) techniques (i.e grapling) to incapacitate your assailant.

I actually agree that mercy is for the weak, especially when it comes to war, violence, and fighting.

Another thing I was surprised at was the Cobra Kai white training gi's didn't have the sleeves missing like the black competition ones. Those would of been awesome too!

Thats good he's actually teaching you to fight. Thats why i like my sensei and bjj coach keeping it real. ^^
