  • it doesn't seem that steep, how fast were you going

  • I don't think we ever got over 40 because you have to brake pretty hard going into some of the 180 degree switchbacks.

  • No. Don't have your 53 year old mother with the bum knee go. They'll take her money, but she should do to the website bikemauisafety, and see the youtube video downhill bike hell on maui first. Too many accidents. Way too many deaths.

  • those clouds are breathtaking!

  • @jknop1001 In the '90s i would top over 60 mph going down; early a.m. is safest time. Some of my crazy friends would ride down on full moon nights; first guy to use his brakes buys the beer at the bottom.

  • I work for the Company and I personally sniff every bike seat after the tour ends!

  • The vans are there simply for the greed of some of these companies. While having the van or vans in the area staged by the roadside, instead of blocking traffic gives them all of the safety concerns, they still arrogantly insist that it is their right to drive well below the speed limit illegally blocking the normal flow of traffic. This has led to near accidents and plenty of road rage. Go to the web site at Bike Maui Safety for updated information as well as the facts of this industry.

  • yup that is true. that is wut the vans are there for, for the ones that dont want to go on the bike ride or is to nervous

  • It was legal when I was there. If you don't have VERY good bike handling skills then you have no business on this mountain. I believe in freedom and free enterprise but I don't think these bike tour companies should exist.....just too dangerous for inexperienced riders.

  • so is doing this ilegal?
