  • @Chibikan What about the Catholics back in the days of the Spanish Inquisition. If you were not Catholic (or they thought you were not Catholic) you would be tortured in the most gruesome and painful of ways.

See, it's not just Christianity, folks! They're everywhere and in every religion and governmental system there will always be someone who thinks that because they believe what they believe that they are better than everyone else.

  • @Chibikan claimed to be the son of God and that's blasphemy. But if he had said he was the son of God and then proceeded to state how much more deserving of his love the Jewish leaders were and et cetera, they never would have batted an eye.

  • @NerdExtrodinare You find jackasses in all religions (and yes atheism is a religion as it is a SYSTEM OF BELIEFS which is the definition of religion). Take the Muslims who thought that ramming two planes into the World Trade Towers in the name of their religion was a good idea for example. What about the Jewish leaders back in the days of Christ who would do anything they could to shut up anyone who dared speak against them. THAT'S why they wanted to crucify Christ. They said it was because he

  • @Chibikan Amen. My family has stopped going to church because it's too formalic ad there's no room for growth in the spirit. Now we just go to friends houses to have bible study, prayer, and worship. We've never been happier.

  • I feel like Joseph, a prisoner in my own life. My branch is dead and withered. The only thing to do is pray and hope God will come and turn my dead branch into a beautiful blooming tree. Sometimes, faith is just so hard..

  • @Chibikan For this reason, I don't go to church anymore. I can worship just fine on my own and in my own way. I don't need a religious leader telling me what songs to sing or which verses to read or how to pray because they're just as sinful as I am and have no right to tell me I'm doing it wrong. The only pastor I have ever trusted is from my most recent church. It was from the rest of the congregation that I felt the snobbery of the religion.

  • @Chibikan Even if the army of French had given in, I still bet the Spanish would have massacred them. Just for the fun of it. Hitler didn't destroy thousands of Jewish for the sake of his religion, that was what he told everyone, but he did it because it was fun for him. It gave him the sensation of having more power over this group of people who did nothing to him. That's why they do it. They only bring in the Bible so they don't have to feel guilty.

  • @loner1878 I'm saying we don't know what was actually said in the original language. We don't know. We don't have access to the original and we're simply told that what's in that huge textbook is true with no way to test for ourselves. I'm saying, religion was simply an excuse, a justification for what they did. It wasn't the real reason. The Spanish didn't destroy an army of Frenchmen because they wouldn't convert, they did it because they bloody wanted to, because they could.

  • @loner1878 A lot of what Jesus said was metaphorical too. Remember, a lot of his lessons were taught in parable. He rarely ever said what he really meant, if ever.

  • @loner1878 Did I not just finish saying that we base a lot of our beliefs on a TRANSLATION? I read the Bible for one reason, the stories, I like some of the stories (Joseph and the Dream Coat for instance). I do not put my full faith in it though because it's a translation and could very well be wrong. Heck, for all we know, the real bible was nothing more than a recipe book. We'll never know because we don't know if anything from the original remains.
