Class 50 locomotive 50037 "Illustrious" seen at various locations on the London Waterloo - Exeter line. Filmed in April 1991. The locomotive was scrapped around 12 months later.

  • I can remember hearing these pull out of Andover, from about 2 miles away!

  • Good memories. I remember these in the 1970's at Crewe - new, exciting, shiny, modern. Never thought they would be scrapped !

  • Ah...the days when you decided to go by train rather than drive...simply because it was more interesting, not to be green, what a machine!!!
