  • haha wow it looks like my french teacher is so original in making us memorize this :P ugh.

  • I memorized it and did fine.

    It looks long, I know, but just at least memorize the first word of every line because it helps you remember the rest of the words.

  • Stupid and pointless if tou ask me. LaFontaine's Fables is master poetry, and that's exactly where the problem lies. The structure of the sentences are counter-intuitive for those who are trying to learn French, and a good part of the vocabulary is out-dated.

    I remember reciting them blindly in first grade, and even though French is my first language I didn't understand half of it, let alone the moral advices they carry...
