I remember seeing this in my childhood on British TV. It is still quite stunning. Just painstaking animation, no computers capable of doing CGI or graphic rendering like this back then. A work of great imagination and dedication. A piece of film history.

Actually, that's incorrect. There would not be any DNA double helices in a red blood cell. They have no nuclei and therefore no DNA.

This film is decades ahead of its time in depicting (perhaps unintentially) a mini black hole in the centre of an atom.

They used to show this on Blue Peter every couple of years. It used to fascinate me. Looking at it now, it's interesting to see how much they got wrong: The sun has disappeared by the time we see Saturn, but it's only by sunlight that Saturn is visible. Also the electron orbits are spheres with sharp edges (but visible light has too long a wavelength to illuminate anything at that scale anyway). It was great to see this movie again - thanks for posting it :)
