This might be a simple question, but how did you open all the images at the very beginning of the tutorial (before you selected the pictures to edit).

An interesting video and workflow, Jack. I have never heard anyone recommend discarding the RAW image and keeping a JPEG copy for permanent retention.
A rough analogy would be to print a 4x6 picture and then throw away the negative, if one were using a film-based camera.
