And we know what happened to the Romans

As much as I like this documentary, I can't help but be bothered by Terry Jones saying that the Sassanids/Sassanians were less tolerant than the Romans. That is not exactly true. The Sassanid king Shapur I was actually quite tolerant towards the religious minorities within his empire.

@longfootbuddy I'm guessing that your whole thing is really about anarchism. Am I right? Are you simply just an anarchist? Anarchism does sound nice, that I can get away with whatever I like, but it wouldn't sound so nice after a while when someone gets away with doing someone harmful against me. Then a reasonable amount of law & order would be good.
-
@cleanhomer if you had any brains, youd understand that every law and order is enforced by the gun.. it doesnt matter if you harmed anyone.. if you break one of their rules, regardless of how small, they will initially fine you, then imprison you if you fail to pay the fine, and if you resist imprisonment, they will take you by force, using guns.. so dream on, dumbass.. you say one thing, but the reality is different
-
@cleanhomer are you retarded? i just gave examples of victimless crimes that will land you in prison.. i dont need to give any more of the countless examples, youve already been shown to be wrong.. youll continue to parrot the rest of the fools, and mock people that can think clearly.. but there are some people that can see what idiots you delusional people are.. want to see men with guns come put chains on you? just break any of the rules and orders of our tyrant goverment
-
@longfootbuddy I believe you get in trouble for not paying your taxes or using illegal narcotics in ANY country- unless you know of some rare country that doesn't. And I don't like the drug laws either, but since you don't usually get hurt by not using narcotics- quite the opposite, actually- and there's legal alternatives to pot, is there really any point in breaking those drug laws? So, again, how would I see chains by disobeying the govt?
-
@cleanhomer thats because youre a typical, stupid american jackass.. smoke a joint or break any of the rules they have for you.. you dont have to hurt anyone.. dont pay your taxes or something, you can lol your way to jail and be buttfucked by a loling bubba.. maybe he'll fuck some sense into your stupid head

The Romans could pick on the Greeks.
Why do the ancient Romans & Greeks, in their relationship with each other, remind me of the pre-Columbian Aztecs & Mayans? The Greeks/Mayans had a lot of great innovations & philosophies, and the Romans/Aztecs were just conquering, arrogant thugs who more or less absorbed their ideas.

@MartianSanta No matter how much in favor one is of gender equality, women can still be a great mystery.
-
@longfootbuddy LOL! LOL! LOL!!! How on EARTH do you get that idea?? "As a citizen, disobey the American- I'm guessing you mean the American- government, and watch your chains appear!"
Okay, I'll disobey the American govt, and... how exactly do my 'chains' appear? I mean, unless I'm actually committing a crime against others, like stealing, assaulting, killing, fraud, I don't quite get how we're imprisoned or enslaved by "disobeying' the govt.
Rome was the usa of the day or should I say usa is the rome of today.
