As much restraint as I've ever heard out of Martino. Such swing, such soul! F'ing beautiful!

@Fabiendegryse I think it's silly to criticize someone on Pat's level, although I agree with quoting Wes's solo perfectly. Pat is a GREAT player!

What an homage to Wes!

Martino solo system is as follows:
Tease you with the blues and then lose you in the stratosphere of his imagination...a place where few if any beside him can go.

FUCKING AWESOME

@Fabiendegryse Because he is playing his rendition of the Wes tune. All of us know that this master can repeat note by note the whole tune, but he choose the other way to play it, showing some fresh scales and velocity. Remember it's not a competition against Wes, who was a jazzguitar God, It's just the moment of Pat performing. For me Wes still the best of the best, but I 'm open minded with another jazzguys.

welll .... Of course this guy can play jazz, but I wonder why he plays the beginning of Wes's solo, ... including some wrong notes. I consider that if he wants to show us that he knows the solo of Wes, he has to play it PERFECTLY CORRECT ....
More than that: when he finally starts his own improvisation, everything falls down, and then I wonder why he didn't keep playing Wes's solo instead of try to play faster than himself ...

He is very down to earth and sincere. He is a total universal type of player.

I once had a lesson with him and he said there are no irrelevant notes. That's what Jazz is about.
