Mom loved him. Later in life now, I also do, especially after listening to other popular opera singers. She knew what she was talking about. Whatever else my parents did NOT do for us kids, I remember the good that they left with us. For example, our love for music - ALL music!!! Music can save you in your darkest moments. It's one CONSTANT, with everything else constantly changing around us!!! I think I just heard a champagne glass crack with his last high note :)

I have been a fan of Mario Lanza for years. To me he had one of the most beautiful voices ever and he had the ability to sing both popular music and opera in the days when it wasn't done. Now Andrea Bocelli lends his operatic voice to popular music but Mario was the very first to do this. It is tragic that Mario passed so young 38 yars old! Still he remains imortalised through his films and records! RIP MARIO.
