Rep. Cravaack was invited to give the keynote address for the National Maritime Day celebration hosted by The Propeller Club of Duluth-Superior. The Club, which is comprised of nearly 90 members including terminal operators, retired mariners, Coast Guard officers, government leaders, and other maritime executives, joins each year to host an annual luncheon celebration commemorating both the value of the nation's maritime industry and the service of our merchant mariners in times of war and peace. This year, members of the U.S. Merchant Marines Viking Chapter traveled from the Twin Cities area for the event.

"Americans have observed National Maritime Day on May 22 for the last 79 years. This day recognizes the importance of the American Merchant Marine and the men and women serving aboard our merchant ships," said Rep. Cravaack. "The maritime industry has been a key contributor to our economic strength and security—and its continued success is necessary for the economic renewal we all seek."
