Producer's Notes...
Sooooo this little project started because I heard the song "Last One Standing" by Hot Chelle Rae and I my very first thought was ... "i HAVE to make a video with this song!!!" All the ideas were just flowing through my head and I haven't felt so pumped up to make a video since "Stranger" by Secondhand Serenade. I really wanted to make something intensely romantic, with a white theme. I guess contemporary romance videos is where I shine the most lol.
Anuja was the first person who came to mind to be in this video because of her interst in film. That, and she's so amazingly gorgeous. And who could complement Anuja better than Chris Gaspar? Everything just worked out perfectly :D
The 'film set' can be described in one word... ghetto. You wouldn't even be able to guess that the white background was done in the living room of my house. We just took 2 big white blankets and stuck it to the ceiling with some duck tape. No special lighing was used; all the lighting and color enhancements were done on
Sony Vegas [cuz that's how I roll ;D]. Since we didn't have a lot of space [a blanket isn't very wide] the amount of space and movement was very limited so it was hard to capture some stuff without including my couch, or parts of my living room... the blankets would constantly fall down because duck tape can't hold up for very long...we probably spent more time taping the blankets to the ceiling than filming
Winter was a bad time to film this. Because one: It's cold. Two: The trees look dead. It was like a bad
twilight scene. It took a while for me to get the lighting just right without making the scene look too dark, evil, and ...ghetto. Before, all the outdoor scenes were done in black and white and everything looked just plain evil. A lot of experimenting was done before I ended up with the yellow/blue/green outdoor look. It was one of those things that happened by accident but was probably the most brilliant solution ever XD
Overall: I must say that, visually, this is my best video project ever. The amount of layers, blending, and typography involved was a pain in the butt! That's probably what took the longest XD I also had a LOT of 'video blocks' where at certain points of the song, I had no idea what kind of effect to do, or what scenes to use. But a few nights ago, I had my little "video epiphany" where my inspiration and everything was just KICKING in!!! Everything was just clicking together to the point where I didn't even realize ..."oh! it's ... 5:18 am... I didn't get any sleep... and school starts in like an hour. crap." But i didn't regret any of the lack of sleep/ headaches from complex effects @_@;; So I hope y'all enjoyed the video cuz I certainly enjoyed making it ^_^!!
