@realredfox Your comment is incomprehensible. There is no huge advantage in the performance of SATA HDDs over that of IDE HDDs. Throwing them out would be wasteful and would gain nothing significant.

I'd like to connect my old IDE Drive to my new mainboard, which only supports SATA.
Could I boot from the old drive? With this adapter

Could you boot with this adapter from an old IDE HDD which is attached to a new "S-ATA Mainboard" ?
Thx for replies ;D

I actually got it to work!!!
Sorry it took so long to reply.
when plugging in the adapter, you are able to miss some of the pins. You can plug all the way to the left, or all the way to the right. This is wrong.
make sure that all plugs are being plugged into. I thought I was doing this the entire time, but I was missing either 2 pins on the right or 2 pins on the left.
that and have both SATA plugs in the adapter and the normal power to the drive.
then good to go.

I know how to convert in 2 steps:
step 1:
Open trashcan and throw IDE HDDs in there.
step 2:
Buy new SATA HDDs.
