  • I've listened to Beethoven's 5 piano concertos more times than I care to admit in my 72 years. Even in works of genius, the novelty of the works runs out. In craving more Beethoven era works one does well by listening to Czerny, Hummel & above all to Ries. Most of his piano concertos are so well crafted & with Beethoven's spirit embedded therein. (I don't think that Ries's symphonies are as successful). He certainly keeps my interest alive. I hope you share my passion.

  • Ries: one of the few real friends Beethoven had, a formidable pianist, underrated composer like heck. This is one of my favorite composers of that era.
