@akirafactor "you turn off the Sun and there goes your heat too." - No one is saying that the sun does not warm the earth. What we are saying is that the sun is providing relatively steady heat and what changes in output it does have are not enough to account for the warming we can observe now.

The CO2 would absorb the heat energy that is transmitted as infrared radiation and thereby making Anrold invisible to the predator was my point. When you say "A vacuum is a perfect insulator" Do know what radiation is? Radiation means that the earth will lose heat energy through radiation because radiation can move through a vacuum.

If you were in space without a space suit you would freeze in a few hours because your body is radiating heat.

I will try one last time to explain something which I think is simple. Light from the sun reaches earth and hits the surface, it gets turned into infrared radiation, CO2 absorbs the infrared because it chemical structure, it then vibrates causing heat. So the more CO2 the more radiation you trap. Its basic science. If we didn't have CO2 the earth would lose heat energy into space in the form of infrared. Understand now?

I think you missed just about everything he was saying. He wasn't saying that the sun isn't the source for heat, it is the only source, rather he was saying that the sun has been stable and cannot be blamed for the current heating we are seeing. CO2, and other greenhouse gases that absorb infrared radiation, trap the suns energy from escaping into space are to blame was the point I believe.

You are confusing what "is" with what we "ought" to do. Bringing up carbon credits has nothing to do with the science of climate change. Just because human caused global warming is real, doesn't therefore mean that environmentalist policies are right, or the best solutions. I have heard good free market solutions to climate change and even some would argue there is nothing we can do about it.
