nukes are the only reason the US and Russia didnt start world war 3. For as bad as their potential destructive power is so far it has only been potential.
All you liberal flower children need to look at how much death and destruction world wars one and two did to europe and imagine that happening to san fransisco, russian T-80 tanks rolling through the rubble of your homes the next time you speak out on the evils of the mutually assured destruction scenario. ;)

@thechase83 the've done tests even if we we blew every nuke on the planet at the same time the earth would recover. Thinking we can destroy the planet makes it seem like we have such a big ego.

Soviet nuke, called the Tsar Bomba...the largest, most powerful nuclear weapon ever detonated, and currently the most powerful explosive device ever created.
the bomb was originally designed to have a yield of about 100 megatons of TNT (420 PJ); however, the bomb yield was reduced to only 50 Megatons in order to prevent a "nuclear fallout" that would result. Only one bomb of this type was built and tested on October 30, 1961, in the Novaya Zemlya archipelago...

The same person who can appreciate the technical aspects that these things had to overcome to even get to production. You can thank these guys for giving you the microwave and clean nuclear energy.
