Audio from Scott Hahn's “Answering Common Objections to the Catholic Faith.” Scott Hahn provides a full array of scriptural, historical, and traditional evidence that all lend support to the validity of the Papacy. This includes extensive explanations of the appointment of St. Peter, Papal succession, Papal infallibility, Papal corruption, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It’s around 60 minutes in total length. Enjoy and God Bless!

  • To say Jesus didn't give peter an official position to facilitate, thus only his confession is the rock on which to build, leads to too much personal leeway, Christ fulfilled the OT law, didn't destroy it, and studying the law we should see clearly that Our Father had order and structure should be evident Jesus was giving rights to complete the earthly structure...where there is no head, the body dies...

  • @MRGV7373 The office is not "everlasting" but merely lasts as long as the Church does. Why? Because Satan and his minions and servants-and Jesus says Satan has a kingdom-are always trying to attack and defeat the Church of Christ. Therefore, the Church always needs a supreme shepard on earth to lead and to confirm.

  • The Popes have a leadership role. Peter confession is the rock, It is the confession of faith that makes a person a Christian. Not Peter. Faith in Jesus is the rock of all Christians. NO other teaching make sense. Jesus could have made Peter the leader of the church at anytime. He made him the holder of the keys, since Peter now knew who Jesus is - God that had come down to earth and the Christ. So the teaching should be confess to become a member of the Church and follow Peters Keys

  • OT Keys make sense. Peter is not the ever lasting office. Sins are not bound or forgiven by any person on earth. Jesus is the forgiver of sins. Peter is a pebble a starting "rock" Believers in Jesus are the rest of the rocks to that make a the Large rock of the church. Hahn is very selective on who he quotes. The Keys went to Peter, but no office is given to Peter. The one Church is all believers that have come to Christ. There are no High Priest in the NT. Only Jesus.

  • ST PETER, JANITOR OF HEAVEN, PRAY FOR US
