Video # 4 Very rough as the (old) camera and inexpensive Marshall Bass amp don't do the Bass justice...but you can get an idea of the range of tones that it is capable of. I think I shook every picture on the wall and anything else not bolted down in the room. The Bass was plugged straight into the amp and I basically ran the amp "flat" with only a slight amount of mids pulled out. All the tonal changes you hear are coming from the controls on the bass. I'll be very impressed if anyone can guess where the beginning bass riff is from...

Here is a link to my current eBay auctions if you are interested...

Thanks for watching!

  • Trust? Nice!

  • @usernamewaster YES!!! I still love those guys! Thanks for watching!

  • second riff is from larrry graham - earthquake?

  • @zonwuka Not consciously...I wouldn't have the guts to go after one of his riffs (if I were thinking)...but it sure does sound like that basic progression that lies underneath all his mastery.

  • fimed this with ur toaster?

  • @hoppsan4 lol...my typewriter actually...I got an actual camcorder very soon after this video...on like my 20th and you can see I've done quite a few more since then...but this old Nikon Coolpix 3200 digital camera (and the video mode) did help get me started...and it still works great for still pictures!

  • @hoppsan4 nice i guess :) allso good playin sounds fine

  • @nayjayjee I hear ya...I prefer the Yamaha's too...I used to go and see Talas back in the day when Billy was using his old Fender P...another great bass player (and even more gifted vocalist) who plays Yamaha is Glenn Hughes...

  • @greengtrs I've played a couple of them in various guitar shops around the country - it just didn't work for the stuff I was playing at the time (Billy Sheehan-style stuff). What seemed to work best for that style of playing was my old Yamaha BB300 (modified heavily). Mind you, this was way before Billy Sheehan starting endorsing Yamaha. I just loved the BB300's neck - very fast and thinner, like a Fender jazz.

  • @nayjayjee welll, your right, but i writa that cuz i have a rick, (4001 vintage 1978) and sounds pretty similar.
