  • You can use them, but you have to understand how to place them or your stitch counts will be off. Kfb is created while working a stitch. M1L and M1R are created between sts. With kfb, the increase is the part where you knit into the back of a st, So kfb, k1, kfb means you end up with a k, inc, k, k, inc. To use m1 incs you'd k1, m1R, k2, m1L

  • Can I ask why you knit the first stitch after removing the stitch marker? I am knitting a pattern that does not tell me to knit that first stitch, and I'm wondering if it is helpful in some way when picking up stitches to knit the sleeves. Thanks for the video!

It has to do with the kfb inc, and keeping the stitch between each result of the incs on a non-sleeve portion of the garment. Two knit sts are separated by a marker V | V. When kfb incs are used in each st, the 4-st result looks like -V | -V . The first -V is worked, the marker | is slipped off, and then the 2nd V is worked so that it stays with the main body of the sweater rather than on the sleeve. Different incs and different marker placements might call for something diff

  • Thank you so much! I was so scared to make the sleeves

  • You SAVED me. I almost gave up with my raglan sweater, thanks so much you explained this very well.

  • what are the differences between kfb and MR1 , ML1 ? Can I do these increase stitches with MR1 ,ML1 instead of kfb ? Thank you very much

  • Thank you! I am new to knitting and I'm working on my first garment (raglan sweater w/ argyle pattern) and was confused about transferring the sleeve stitches to waste yarn. I've been looking online all day for more guidance and your video was so helpful! I'm ready to continue this project now :-)

  • Thank you for this video...this clearly explains dividing sleeves

  • I'm knitting my first top down cardigan and was very confused by the pattern directions when dividing for the sleeves, but your video explained it all perfectly. Thanks so much.

  • @RoxMpls

Thank you! The pattern I'm knitting uses kfb increases with a marker in between. In your opinion, should I go ahead and knit the first stitch after the marker when dividing for the sleeves? It sounds like I should (from your explanation if I am understanding you correctly.)
