Erwin, The Utimate Talking Aussie Budgie. (Australian Budgerigar.)

This is the ultimate (and last) video of my precious little Erwin, who died after only two years with us. I've been meaning to load this little clip for some time, but I've been so busy with two jobs and Life, I haven't had time.

It was very hard for me to put this video together, because I still miss Erwin so very much. But I wanted to create the best tribute video I could; to show the world how amazing Erwin was in his short but very special life. Not many budgies can talk so well, or show so much trust or affection for their owner as this little tacker did with us. And he so loved his water - he was such a joy to watch. We were very lucky and proud to have raised him as part of our family.

Yes some birds do sound like that - not all of them though. Erwin was incredibly clear at speaking. My latest budgies are not.

From about two months of age Erwin had learnt his name and had started saying a few phrases and it went from there. In the footage above he was nearly two years old, and quite the speaker. He was very clear when he was sitting still (like above) and he could also mimic phone button sounds perfectly, amongst other things.

Erwin was almost always talking - except when he was cuddling into the side of my neck. Such a sweet little bird. :-)

My budgie, Buddy, loves listening to Erwin. He's very young and just beginning to talk, and when listening to Erwin he sits on my shoulder and talks quietly to himself. It's such a pity most budgies die young. Can I ask, if you know, what caused Erwin's death? My last budgie died of lead poisoning from chewing the lead frame on a kitchen prayer wall hanging. You have to be so careful with them. Erwin was a beautiful bird in every way.

There's a reason, besides plenty and low price, that budgerigars are such popular birds. They are absolutely adorable and endearing, like your Erwin. I'm sorry he had such a short life but glad it was so loving and fulfilling.

Sorry to hear about Erwin passing away so young, i have boy 3 budgies aged 2, 3 and 4 years old we had a girl budgie but she died last year aged 3, we also have an amazon parrot who's the budgies best mate, she's between 30 and 40 years old bless her
