DS Biehl Installations at Urban Art Project, June, 2009

Three parking garage window installations by artist Daniel Biehl, as part of Great Falls' Urban Art Project, are on display through August, 2009. Flying Cloud, Respirator and 27 Distortions are all experiments in fabric shaping by various means. 27 Distortions uses torque and tension to produce a formed surface. Flying Cloud employs artificial stiffeners to mimic the billowing of sails. Respirator uses levers, pulleys and a vintage IBM Selectric motor and drive unit to acheive a kinetic sculpural/architectural detail.
