SIDE IMPACT TEST WITH STANDARD SIDE AIRBAGS
OVERALL EVALUATION: Good

Important: Side impact crash test ratings can be compared across vehicle type and weight categories.
Test details:
The Acura TL was redesigned for the 2004 model year.
Injury measures:
Driver — Measures taken from the dummy indicate that rib fractures would be possible in a crash of this severity. The risk of siginificant injuries to other body regions is low.
Rear passenger — Measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity.
Head protection:
Driver — The dummy's head was protected from being hit by any hard structures, including the intruding barrier, by a side curtain airbag that deployed from the roof.
Rear passenger — The dummy's head was protected from being hit by any hard structures, including the intruding barrier, by a side curtain airbag that deployed from the roof.
@Samplemonster A 5 star rating in no way means that crash victims will walk away completely uninjured. Rib fractures are a very common side impact injury.

it would be so much more meaningful if they put their interpretations along with this video:
We watch this, see a wrecked car, and may interpret the guy is injured,
but in actually it may be a 5 star rating,
we will never know
(actually we can by researching, but why not make it available)

They paint the dummies heads with a colored lipstick (waxy) type paint the rubs off on areas the head impacts. It does not signify blood, It just shows where the head impacts inside the car.
G-forces are measured by accelerometers in the head, and they dictate if the forces are deadly to humans.
In this case the head impacts the side air curtain, which is good. I believe this car received the IIHS's highest rating of good for that test.

it does but it cannot be right lol. No way would you just randomly bleed like that, air bags might sting, but not make you gush blood.
