Here's another bonus project I did. I was watching videos of "Scales and Arpeggios", from Walt Disney's 20th film "The Aristocats", when I felt the desire to learn how to play the song myself. Since I was in this class at the time, I took advantage of the tools available to me and I made this cover. Again, let me say that this wasn't an assigned project I had to do.

For reference, I used mostly this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NIlQXyuw-I There were a few other "tutorial" videos I may have looked at. I realize that this isn't a perfect recreation of the piano part played in the film, the one in the recording by the Sherman brothers. If you want to hear how the original pino part sounded (albeit with the voices), go to video "E6eDOcsfPz0". At least mine is cleaner-sounding. Instead of using the Korg Triton's "Grand Piano" sound (which can be heard in a few of my other videos) I used the "XXL Grand Piano" VSTi (virtual instrument) piano patch/voice for this project.

"Scales and Arpeggios" was written by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman in 1970. While the person playing the piano was likely one of the two of them (or both, considering the bass at the end), it was originally sung by Liz English as Marie (white), Dean Clark as Berlioz (black), Robie Lester as Duchess (though her speaking voice was Eva Gabor), and Gary Dubin as Toulouse (orange). • part of the gui like the player on the bottom makes me think of Krystal Audio Engine (a free mixer with limitted capabilities but still powerful and good). u need better synths guy. Pirate NExus and see if it works in this baby. Its a plugin but what ever shoot me for being wrong. :p

  • @True2TheBlueYoViGang: I made this in a community college class using Cubase. I no longer have access to this software. If you ask me, this song sounds fine the way it is, if you don't count the inaccuracies in the MIDI sequencing. (It's not exactly the same as the way the Sherman brothers played the piano in the original movie.)

  • @dogman15 thank you so much!!!!, your a life saver

  • @mymusicvideos1991: I've e-mailed you this MIDI file, but I suggest that you delete your message and not publicly display your e-mail address online. Replace this comment that I'm replying to with something like "OMG! I need the midi file to this!!"

I hope you enjoy the MIDI file. Do with it what you will.

  • @dogman15 my deviant name is mutantllamaofDOOM :^) I think I'd rather you put it up on deviantart....thanks

  • @cupcakeslurvyou: I can't e-mail it to you without your e-mail address. (If you want to give it to me, do so in a private YouTube message.) Therefore, I'll work on "packaging" it as a deviation.

I also tried copy-pasting your YouTube username into a deviantART URL (cupcakeslurvyou[dot]deviantart[dot]com), but that didn't work, so I don't know your Deviant name.

  • @cupcakeslurvyou: I'll work on that - and I'll give you two choices. Would you prefer I post the MIDI file with a screenshot of this video to my deviantART account, or would you rather I directly e-mail you the file? Your choice.

(IMO, these methods are better, safer, and more reliable than "megaupload" file-sharing sites.)
