I have to respectfully dissagree on the responsivness part, I have the dual setup on my 1275 (mild cam, flat-top pistons) I agree setup can be a bit of a pain at first, but I find once tuned nicely she is very snappy. I did however polish the throats of the SU's and stock manifold chambers, but it yes the manifold bolts are a bugger! It's a technique *laughs*

I guy I knew had a Single SU on his 72 midget. I think it was a HF44? He bought form a guy in England He said he saved gas had had the same power as Twin SUs. Austin Mini had this set-up on there 1275cc as well

nice car. Why did you convert to the single carburettor?
yeah its an HIF44 - easier to tune than twins, more refined carb design. Better throttle response and the single flows better than the twins. Alos the titan manifold on this is better than any easy to find twin manifold. Doesnt look as good though, although getting to the manifold nuts now is easy!
