Myth #6:. The miracles of the New Testament were invented by the Gospel writers.

And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples and said to Him, "Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?" Jesus answered and said to them, "Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: "The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me" (Mat. 11:2-6 NKJ).

Note that Jesus is declaring himself to be the Messiah, the Son of God, by showing John the Baptist that specific prophecy is being fulfilled. Hundreds of years before, Isaiah wrote of the Messiah:

Then the eyes of the blind will be opened, and the ears of the deaf will be unstopped. Then the lame will leap like a deer, and the tongue of the dumb will shout for joy. For waters will break forth in the wilderness and streams in the Arabah (Isaiah 35:5-6).

Not worth arguing over but:

"It is generally supposed that Celsus was a Greek or Roman. However, his acquaintance with Judaism and his knowledge of Egyptian ideas and customs incline some historians to think he belonged to the Eastern portion of the empire. Those who believe him to have been a Roman explain his knowledge of Jewish and Egyptian matters by assuming that he acquired that knowledge either by traveling, or by mingling with the foreign population of Rome."

What do you think about the idea that Luke was written by Josephesus?

Since Luke is quoted in 1 Clement (c. 96 AD) and Josephus was also wrote about this time, Luke had to be prior to Josephus.

I've seen the form criticism that compares Luke to Josephus in several places. There are some good examples of this at the TEXTEXCAVATION website. However, I think the comparisons are too incidental for one to be dependent on the other.

@jcr4runner I always get a kick out of people when they have a vision of jesus or better yet, when they photogragh something that appears like jesus face in a rock or something, the problem is the image looks like our depiction of him in paintings etc........yet we have know idea what he looked like.........how ignorant is the human species?

okay first off jesus is not black.....if you look in the national geographics video on you tubes it talks about jesus' race....guess what....he can't be black if anthing he would be looking like a regular jew who was dark skinned because he was in the sun alot soooo he would probably spanish and frankly who cares What race he was. What matters is the message he brought for us.

If it makes you feel good to think Jesus was a black man, then by all means, do so. I don't think his race matters one bit. I am white and I know he was not a white man. I think he was most likely more of an Arab than a black man but either way, his message is the important part, not his race.

Maybe it was my mistake, but true, not worth arguing over. :) It was just my recollection that he was Jewish I don't claim that this was a fact... ;)

Sad but true there are many who call themselves Christians but are not true believers. It happens in many religions. The learned Jewish Nicodemus said to Jesus: "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him."

In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."

"How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked.
