How to beat Soul Calibur IV using only one move.
Statistics: Platform PS3/Mode Arcade

Soul Calibur IV, like Tekken 6, can be beaten entirely by doing the same move over and over again. Though few characters require you to get up quicker. Select Mitsurugi, then, press Vertical Strike (Triangle) repeatedly. The entire game can be beaten this way. There are certain characters to look out for (The Apprentice, Setsuka, Algol) which require you to recover more quickly when knocked down, as they can chain a combo fast enough to beat you before you get up. The Apprentice, in particular, can be harder than others as you're more prone to a ring out when facing him (the combination of this plus the input lag of the PVR is why it took me so long to beat him). Defeating Algol depends on a speedy recovery, which only requires you to press buttons after falling, but was very hard to time through the PVR window which is also why it took me a while (for video purposes, I couldn't risk pushing buttons at the wrong time and accidentally using a different move against him). There really isn't a whole lot to it, though the AI doesn't always stick to the same pattern, the worst thing that could happen is losing a round. At the beginning of this video, I showed the Versus Difficulty being set to the hardest - this may not change the difficulty of Arcade Mode, as there didn't appear to be an option to do so. Backing an opponent against a wall can be a good thing, and a bad thing, depending on the character. You move closer with each hit, and some characters (Setsuka) can break your pattern when up against them. I bought Soul Calibur and Tekken in an effort to give something new a chance, instead of playing my usual games (Street Fighter, Virtua Fighter), and when played normally, they're very fun games :) (I just like messin' stuff up :P)
With The Apprentice, you may want to use the D-Pad to move away, as I mentioned before, you're very prone to rung outs against him. Everyone else is pretty much cake: Ivy, Talim, Maxi, Yoshimitsu, Yun-Seong, Cassandra and Tira included. -Accidental Pause- Is it me or are those guys getting closer? :x
I love the Overkill rain dances they do, lol. Siegfried can be tough too, though he's not usually. Due to the input lag, I accidentally broke the pattern (here). Realizing what happened, I didn't think it was fair to continue the round, so I let him win. The input lag problem during the making of this video may not sound like a big deal, especially to those who have experienced it before, but I assure you, it was. Note to Self: Switch inputs next time.
Notice Mitsurugi's recovery attack - you will need this to beat The Apprentice (same button). Arcade Mode lists playing the game without equipment or weapon effects. Apparently, "The Force" doesn't count. Notice the railing, and edge of his platform. The Apprentice has several moves that can knock you into the air, and as such, out of the ring. Once airborne, he can juggle you, which only makes matters worse, so remember to use those recovery attacks. The Apprentice can spam that last move, keep that in mind. Once again, the lag caused me to do the wrong move (here). Thankfully, it didn't connect.
Algol is the final boss here. This stage, in combination with Algol's moves, can also make you very likely to ring out. Provided the circumstances don't allow a ring out, our trick will put him out of his misery. Again, the AI changes up every now and then, not all rounds will be the same, but there's always round three, so just keep trying. I was also on the phone during the fight with Algol. Even with all the elements against me, I still managed to do the trick - not bad eh? I didn't want to stop and edit the video, but after the first ring out vs The Apprentice, for YouTube's sake - I realized I should edit it anyway.
Congratulations, you just beat Soul Calibur IV!
wow you suck so bad you cant just play the game normal

@frogcat2ify yeah, cause that was the point of this video. People like you are the reason I'm deeply concerned about the future of humanity.

ok if my characters in the game or all characters stop talking for some reason like when there about to fight what does that mean and how do I make the talk again?

@R16Brian uh, I have no idea. Sounds like it could be a bug to me, unless there's some sort of mode you can put it in. Can you post a video? I'll take a look at it.
