This song is called "Apple Harvest"
The music is a piano improv of mine, recorded with my Zoom H2 digital recorder.
It is track #1 of my 15-song CD - Recorded in Sep-2008.
All the songs are piano improvs I did in my home, either on my grand piano or my 1900-era gutted upright player piano. One cost over $8,000 used, the other $45 used. I like them both. The upright has remarkably "alive" bass strings with very little wear and no abuse. This improv was recorded on my 1960 Yahama 5'8" grand piano - Model G-2.
HOW I MADE THIS VIDEO:
I recorded my live piano improv session with my Zoom H2.
I NORMALIZED the song file in the Zoom H2.
I transferred the file (USB cable) to my iMac.
I edited the file in Soundtrack Pro, on my iMac.
I silenced the first and last three seconds.
That's all - no reverb or any other effects.
I loaded the song into iTunes.
I played (and programmed in real time) the G-Force Platinum visualizer software while playing the improv in iTunes.
I recorded the visualizer (video & sound playing on my iMac screen) with my Panasonic mini-DV camera.
I loaded the mini-DV video & audio into iMovie.
I loaded the iTunes file of the improv into the iMovie project , and synched the two versions of the audio.
Once perfectly synched, I turned the sound OFF on the mini-DV recording of the visualizer movie.
This left the visualizer VIDEO and the CD-quality iTunes AUDIO.
I added faders and titles, and exported it as a Medium movie (.m4v file format).
That's all!
Thank you very much, Sepharite.

Thanks for your great comments. I have recently learned this about putting SILENCE in an improv: it allows me to start again with something completely different! Every pause of total silence is like permission to begin again!

Good stuff man! Very engaging! I especially liked your juxtaposition of pedal/sustained tones and clipped sounds. Also a really nice harmonic balance between "functional" and more colored, textural kinds.

Thanks for the nice comments!
In August of this year (2008) I began using 90% less sustain pedal. It's also when I began recording with my Zoom H2 digital recorder, giving me CD-quality recording sound for the first time.
I have learned that a half-second complete silence in places allows me to begin again, playing something completely different. It's a great technique for changing the mood quickly.
The advances in digital recording technology are changing the way I play!

Very nice. To use a saying I often use, there's hitting notes, and there's playing music. This is music.
