As a long-time Pink Floyd fan I reckon the licks on 'Run Like He'll owe a debt to thus brilliant piece! What a virtuoso performance.

Just heard this on BBC4 great upload where has this been hiding all these years or has my head been stuck in the sand.... beter late then never...

I remember seeing this in the early nineties on UK Gold or something during my college days of going to bed at silly o'clock. And right then I thought, holy wow this is awesome.
I've JUST found it again, after what, 17 years or so, doing a random search here, I'm so glad someone has put this up. Such an awesome tune.

@sonofbignose I totally agree with everything you say. I have forwarded this piece to so many people. Pity it wasn't done sooner. The credit the man desrves for serving something as beautiful and emotional as this. Absolutely amazing stuff!!!!

Brilliant - thanks to Colin Scallen for sending this to me. Try some DIRTY MEDICINE - exactly what it says on the label

Ten years ago I'd have dismissed John Martyn as one of those hoary old bluesy rock dinosaurs that had no relevance to a kid brought up in the aftermath of punk rock. Then I saw this on a repeat of in about 2002/3... Blew my socks right off...RIGHT OFF! I was a very sudden convert right there.
Sadly missed, bless him.

Touched by the hand of genius

One of those performers for whom the title "an original" was invented for. Pretty damn impressive performance here, I recommend headphones. A man who lived with no regrets from the sound of it, and a willing envelope stretcher. Seems to mundane a thing to wish you other than to say I mean it and that is RIP John Martyn, one with love now.

I think 'unique' says it all.
Heard the news via Mike Harding's radio show - tragic. I'd seen this video years ago when the BBC ran a brief repeat of the OGWT and this was the first performance they showed. Blew me away then and still does. Wish I'd found his music earlier...

he's using an echoplex pedal.

Oh John - I will miss you - seems like yesterday you played on my record player and I tried to play along - I will never ever forget your gift to me - beautiful music xx

I second that. I felt like crying when I heard he'd died.
