@GBeret83 Yes you right. First he was infertile, and in the mid 2010 he has passed his way. When I´m right it was because of laminitis. In the spring of 2011 his grandfather Sadler´s Wells also was died. Very sad, two of the greatest are gone forever. Well,I´m very proud of my horse. Born 2009 and therefore, one of the last ones by the great Singspiel.
@matjesworld, You're absolutely right about Singspiel, my friend. Underrated as a racehorse, and he's very underrated as a sire, too. Very talented horse that proved equally durable on turf and conventional dirt. As he also won the 1997 Dubai World Cup on conventional dirt at Nad Al Sheba to go along with all of his G1 success on turf. Didn't Singspiel actually just pass away a little over a year ago? I thought I remembered reading that he had passed in 2010?
@GBeret83 Pretty often Singspiel was underrated. His last stud fee was only £15.000, nevertheless take a look at his pedigree: In the Wings - Sadler´s Wells - Northern Dancer. What a collection of names! Also in my opinion he was a top class sire. I hope he had always the championship gene as you have said, because I´ve bought a son of him. (-; One of his last descendants, definitely, and rather rare in Germany.
Huge fan of the 2nd place finisher of this race, Singspiel. He was great on the racetrack, and great in the breeding shed as well. He sired one of the best European turf race-mares of the modern era in Dar Re Mi. A multiple G1 winning mare. Dar Re Mi was a fantastic mare. Singspiel won the 97' Dubai World Cup. His daughter, Dar Re Mi won the 2010 Dubai Sheema Classic. Singspiel definitely had the championship gene.
Sad that Rick's Natural Star ever ran here. Could have been a nice 50k allowance horse on the Canadian grass. Instead horse takes on these. Horribly pathetic.
