Thin Lizzy - Opium Trail

Bad Reputation may actually be their best album - better than Jailbreak and Johnny the Fox. However, in my opinion, they were at their peak during this period so take your pick along with Live and Dangerous (perhaps, THE BEST live album ever).

Black Rose and Chinatown are also good, but the drugs must have taken over by Renegade. I have always wondered if this song represented the beginning of Phil's heroin usage.

As far as I know, Phil started heroin while recording Black Rose in Paris in '79, but this song was inspired by a documentary Phil saw on tv about the passage of opium from the far east, so it at least represents the beginning of his interest in the drug.

So sad how his life turned, and its all right there in his tunes, people probably didn't realise how much truth was in his lyrics until it was too late.
