So what? You're in an area where your provider doesn't give coverage. There are literally hundreds of spots for every provider in AUS where you get blackouts.
If you'd just put up some text saying "I don't get Vodafone reception in my house" it would have given the exact same amount of information and everyone time, including yourself.

even on my n95 and n97 it was rarely above 1 bar...

u have iphone i see. did u think it might have been a software issue as iphone 3,3gs, and iphone 4 have many problems, i worked for vodafone and constantly had to send in iphone for repairs so the most issues itself relate to new handsets.
