I cant understand why make a movie about a bridge, when the fact that US gun laws result in having waaaaay more suicides by firearms than jumping from a height. Holding a piece of metal to your head and pulling the trigger is relatively straightforwards to having to stare a significant 100m+ drop in the face!

Good point. There's room in the world for lots of films, on lots of subjects. I would encourage you to make a film of your own on guns and suicide, I am sure it would be interesting.

@Sarahharbin More people jump here than any other place and jumping from high places is one of the most common forms of suicide there is. It's a far more complex issue than you think it is. It's OK to be smart ass it's that's what your doing but at least be funny or intelligent about it.

@dukeyflyswatter I am confused. Why do you think I am a smartass? When people comment here I try to answer their questions as genuinely as I can. Also, why do you think I don't know this is a complicated issue? I spent a year and a half of my life making this film. If anyone knows that this is a complicated subject, I think it would be those of us who made the film.

@jmata060200 as they hit the water they go maybe 20ft under from the speed impact and as the current is so strong they rarely resurface alive as they pulled along in the water and unable to rise , this isnt fact just would i would think

I'm going to visit San Francisco in four weeks (around the time the 49ers will be in the postseason) and I plan on walking the Gate. Instead of jumping, I am going to watch carefully if someone will jump. If someone attempts, I'm going to call 911 from my cellular phone and maybe become a hero. I'll tell them as they enter the police car, 'Don't even think about trying it on the Bay Bridge or Coit Tower!'

@Benwell1 What do you mean with regard to US gun laws? As in, they're not stringent enough, so guns are too available? Should their being an option for suicide be a reason to want to control them? Seems like one of the least well founded or logical reasons I've ever heard for gun control. People have the right to defend themselves.
