Vancouver riot kissing couple video shows what happened before photo

VANCOUVER -- The Vancouver riot kissing couple has been identified as Alexandra Thomas and Scott Jones, but many wondered what happened in the moments before that iconic kiss photo by photographer Rich Lam?

Now a new video has surfaced on the Internet that shows what happened.

In the video, the couple can be seen moving among the riot police before being knocked down in the street.

A few police members stand over them, and Jones can be seen holding his hand up as if to protect his girlfriend.

The video moves away from the couple for a moment, but when it focuses back on them on the ground, Thomas looks to be crying and in pain as tear gas is set off down the street.

A few people crowd around the couple on the ground towards the end of the video.

Although the photo has become an iconic image of the Vancouver riots, the couple has not spoken out too much to the media, and couldn't really understand all the fuss when the photo first surfaced.
