Johann Sebastian Paesch (cello) plays the Souvenir de Spa by Adrien-Francois Servais with the Orpheus Quartet - Mark Gothoni (violin), Minna Pensola (violin), Emile Cantor (viola), and Laurentiu Sbarcea (cello). A live concert from the Rauma Music Festival in Finland. 2007.

  • The first violinist plays very nice too,but I cannot hear him enough !!

  • Why? When Casals was a student in a French consevatoire he was told: Petit Spagnol vien ici, & was ordered to play the cello solo of this work, no doubt thinking he would fail...he did not, & the proffesor begged him to be his student. Casals replied; No you have humilliated me...& this became the leitmotif of the rest of his life: he would never bow to anyone, ever in his life...so as I say, Pau Casals Rocks!!!
