Why? When Casals was a student in a French consevatoire he was told: Petit Spagnol vien ici, & was ordered to play the cello solo of this work, no doubt thinking he would fail...he did not, & the proffesor begged him to be his student. Casals replied; No you have humilliated me...& this became the leitmotif of the rest of his life: he would never bow to anyone, ever in his life...so as I say, Pau Casals Rocks!!!
