What's the safest way to run a power cable out of the containment building? A zig-zag/stair step pattern out through a thicker wall?

one thing though. as i saw in direwolf20s video you need to have a) a redstone current to switch the reactor on and off, b) some cabeling to get the power out of that room.

how will these openings affect the explosion?

does the distance from the explosion ( the reactor ) decrease blast power?

if so how far does a single layer of reinforced stone has to be so it wouldn't get destroyed?
