@nphanlon1973 Cheiftain was NOT used in Northern Ireland - they felt the main armament was too provocative. They used the Centurion AVRE (four of them).

viewers might like to know the british used the chieftain in operation motorman 1974 against I.R.A. checkpoints.it had been a proud boast of the I.R.A. that they had established "no go" zones in northern ireland.that is until the chieftain turned up.i mean seriously,how are you going to stop 56 tons of tank with an armalite m-16???
