During his visit from Ontario, Jim McGillivray found time to entertain us with a swinging set, as well as run a workshop and judge at the Bratach Gorm and Glenfiddich competitions.

  • Now that's how I'd like to play 6/8's!!!!

The first one is especially beautiful.

  • @jackhawkpiper97 Mammoth ivory, Jim told us - thousands of years old, older than music itself !!

  • anyone knows the name of the second tune? would really appreciate it, what an amazing set, and awesome played, love it!

  • Silver and Ivory Dunbars from St. Catherine's, Ontario, Canada

  • Thanks to Mr. McGillivray... I own that remarkable set of pipes!

  • Marching makes it easier to keep the tune in time, the music sounds so much better when the embellishments start in the correct spot and in time. It's better to me than hearing a foot thumping hard against the floor.

  • It's not "customary" to march, it's mandatory for competition marches.

  • Helps with tempo (although I doubt Open Graders need any help with that), and it allows the room to hear your instrument from all perspectives. And, let's face it, watching a bagpiper isn't the most exciting thing to see.

  • Dunbar's

  • Is he playing Krons?
