Hearst Castle Bus Ride

Every tour at Hearst Castle starts and ends with a bus ride to and from the castle. This is part of the ride down on a beautiful December day. People who get car sick beware.

Only later in the winter and the spring are the coastal California hills green (if it has been raining). This was just before Christmas.  Most of the year they are brown.

This is sad. I remember coming here in 1994 and the surrounding areas were filled with green grass, not dry mountains. I remember this very clearly when we were on the bus.

I went to Hearst 10 years ago, what I noticed is that the pools are deteriorating, I am not sure if they used beach sand to make cement but it sure looks like the same type of degradation as the old foundations of the houses built in Long Beach.

I live in Morro Bay only minutes away from there and I go there a lot...it's an interesting place but Hearst seemed like an asshole.
