During celebration of the Saskatchewan Golden Jubilee in 1955, a banquet was held featuring speeches from Tommy Douglas and each of Saskatchewan's living former Premiers. Tommy Douglas was the seventh Premier of Saskatchewan.
Douglas was a brilliant speaker full of laughter and serious thought I have not heard one speach of his that points the sucess of the province into his hands it is always together, us, we and other terms of a community. We must remember what the CCF has done for Saskatchewan, if they couldn't get someone to do the job they created a crown corporation do it and used the monies earned it better the people.
Douglas was very prescient in explaining the natural wealth of Saskatchewan. 55 years later, the province is the most prosperous in Canada in the midst of a recession, even in more oil-rich Alberta to the west.
