In this video I briefly go over my sound concept through the whole range of the saxophone into the altissimo. Mouthpiece exercise, long tones, overtone series and strong sound into the altissimo. Thanks for watching...

  • This video is jam-packed with lots of good tips in a short amount of time. Closeups of the mouth and throat both facing the listener and from the side are ESPECIALLY helpful. Thank you! Please keep uploading! (Found your channel while looking for clips on playing altissimo for the alto. Would love some videos on suggested/trick fingerings to use when going up AND down between specific altissimo notes.)

  • @newband2011 Thank you... appreciate your support!

  • Is it the DURGA you're usin'? :)

  • @selmerpwns Nope... its an AMMA

  • @APGR Damn! i'm having trouble choosing between those two...

have you tried the DURGA? Know the general difference/pros, cons the two in between?

  • @selmerpwns I'm sorry to say that I have not tried the DURGA. The only thing I know about it is that is much brighter than the AMMA. I'm sure is killin' .. but just to be on the safe side, I recommend you play both. I choose the AMMA mostly because I have a tendency to play very bright on any piece I use. So with a powerful/brighter piece like the DURGA, I imagine I could peel chrome of an old ford.
